Picking a color!

Image
I was told I should keep them kind of darker. Why????? That to me just doesn't make sense. If I was going to get a new smile overhaul, I was going to make em shine! I can understand if you have teeth left and needing to match them. But with full dentures, its like do I want my old teeth back or pretty new ones? I'll take the pretty white ones please! So many dentist try to talk ppl out of it. I understand wanting them to look natural. I picked the whitest natural shade. For me, they are perfect. Ask your dentist to let you take time when picking your color. Ask them to give you options to try. Not just taking their suggestion on the first go. Skin tone can make some shades look lighter or darker depending. But do what makes you happy. If you always wanted a Hollywood smile, go for it! You deserve it.

Insurance...... Yeah right!

I live in the beautiful state of Washington. Filling with gorgeous landscapes and one of the fastest growing metropolis'! Home to Amazon, Boeing, Microsoft, Nintendo, and many more. You'd never think our states medical system was so messed up. It took me one year exactly to get insurance approval. I only had one dentist to go to. My first round of extractions with this dentist was nothing short of the scariest visit ever! 5 molars were coming out. A man walked in, immediately shot me up with numbing medication and before it even kicked in he put his knee on my chest and arm on my through and told me to suck it up. I felt it all! He pulled 5 molars with nothing numb. I've had 22 hr natural child birth, I'd rather go through that again than this dentist experience. So after this, I begged the state to find me another dentist who took the state medicaid. Guess what, nothing! No options. So I had to wait for the other approvals to come in or else he was going to do this 5 t...

Getting used to thr pain and sickness.

Image
This was what I was dealing with up until Eday! So much pain. I had one tooth on the top and bottom that I favored for eating. That was it. Two teeth total I could munch with. Every drink, bite, cold or hot would send pain through every part of my body. My entire body was sick. Sick with infection. Accessed were nothing new. I still hadn't figured out how it hadn't taken my life yet.

Best investment ever!

Turning point

Image
Last yr I finally knew it was time. I had known deep down that the dentist was going to tell me they had to come out. I had a consult earlier in the yr. It took so much courage to even just make the appt. They told me what I knew already. Dentures. No amount of money would help save them. They pulled 5 back molars in prep one week later. Fast forward 3 months and I was in severe pain, couldn't eat, could talk well, and was dealing with horrible infections. I was keeping them away with rounds of harsh antibiotics. They stopped working after a while. This photo is of an abscess that popped up one day out of nowhere. Ended up in the ER. Strong steroids, pain killers, and more antibiotics. This only helped for a short time. By this time I was waiting on insurance approved for dentures. The dentist wouldn't pull the rest without approval. So I had to wait in pain and infection for over a year.

Looks to kill

The look I could give to anyone trying to snap a photo of my mouth was drop dead evil!

Sealed lips

As the teeth started to fall out and or apart it got harder and harder to open my mouth. My singing hobby and social life came to a grinding hault.

Grandma's curse

Image
My grandmother, born in 1934 had all her teeth removed at age 17. Come to find out I had the exact same problem passed down to me. I was lucky enough to keep my teeth until age 40. But stress also induced her curse!

My mom has beautiful teeth!

My parents have beautiful teeth! But it skipped a generation!

Smile 101

Image
Learning how to smile without showing teeth was hard! I had to learn to talk, smile, eat, and laugh without showing my true feelings. It was very hard. Every day was worse and worse. I started declining invites and functions. The embarrassment of my situation I absolutely had no control over was frightening. I didn't know what to do but hide.

Pre-stress attack!

Image
Pre teeth breakdown photo. 2.4 yrs before my teeth started to fall out at a rapid rate. I used to love my smile and teeth.  I took pride in the fact I had a great smile. This was the last photo of me with my teeth showing before they went south, way south!

Why yoy ask?

Image
An underlying condition was running rampant in my teeth. Causing them to be brittle and crumble. Stress was the agitator and activated this condition. It started from the inside working it's way out. Within one yr I had lost most of the tips of my teeth. Some falling out post and all. This post was a root canal that fell out of my jaw while drinking water one day. It just fell out.

Before dentures

Image
Two years before I got my dentures, my teeth were perfect. A slight misalignment in the bottom but healthy. Within two years my teeth had turned to this! Bad, I know!
